Dr. Alaaeldin Mohammed Khidir Bashier is a distinguished Consultant in Endocrinology and Internal Medicine with over 19 years of clinical experience. He currently practices at Dubai Hospital under the Dubai Health Authority, where he provides expert care in the management of complex endocrine and metabolic disorders, including diabetes mellitus, thyroid diseases, and hormonal imbalances. Dr. Bashier earned his Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery (MBBS) from the University of Gezira in Sudan. He went on to complete a Master of Science in Diabetes Practice from Cardiff University in the United Kingdom in 2012. In recognition of his contributions and expertise, he was awarded a Fellowship of the Royal Colleges of Physicians (FRCP UK) in 2014. As a researcher, Dr. Bashier has contributed significantly to the scientific literature on diabetes and endocrinology. His published works span real-world studies on the management of Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus (T2DM), economic burdens associated with comorbid conditions, and clinical strategies for managing patients during Ramadan. His involvement in the INTENSIFY study, which explored the outcomes of fixed-ratio combinations of insulin therapies in UAE patients, has had a meaningful impact on diabetes management in the region. Dr. Bashier is also an advocate for evidence-based practice and regularly participates in regional and international medical conferences. He plays a key role in developing local clinical guidelines, particularly for managing diabetes during religious fasting, and is committed to advancing healthcare outcomes in the Middle East.

Dr. Ahmed completed his medical training at King’s College in the United Kingdom, followed by specialized training in nephrology at the renowned Guy’s, King’s, and St. Thomas’ Hospitals in London. During his academic journey, he earned his MD under the mentorship of Sir Patrick Vallance, the former Chief Scientific Officer for the United Kingdom. Dr. Ahmed maintains close professional ties with the UK, reflecting his commitment to international collaboration and excellence in medicine. Dr. Ahmed has significantly contributed to the advancement of nephrology in the UAE. He performed the first kidney transplants at the Zayed Military Hospital in Abu Dhabi and the Al Qasmi Hospital in Sharjah, pioneering transplant services in the region. Dr. Omer Ali joins Imperial College London Diabetes Centre (ICLDC) with nearly 14 years of experience in renal medicine, bringing a wealth of knowledge and expertise to his new role. With an extensive academic background, Dr. Ali first earned his Bachelor of Science degree from University College London, UK, in 2005. He then went on to complete his MBChB degree at Cardiff University, UK, in 2007. In 2011, he became a member of the Royal College of Physicians in London, UK, only to then obtain his CCT in Nephrology and General Internal Medicine from the same institution in 2018. He has worked at several prestigious institutions in the UK over the course of his professional career including Guy's and St Thomas’ Hospital, King’s College Hospital and Queen Elizabeth Hospital, London. Most recently, he was a consultant in nephrology as well as acute and general medicine at Barts Health NHS Trust, UK. His specialties include diabetic nephropathy, chronic kidney disease and acute kidney injury. He also has experience running a specialist diabetic kidney disease clinic and a transplant clinic. Being a skilled physician, Dr. Ali received the Barbara Ansell Prize from the Royal Society of Medicine in 2013 and was nominated for the clinical Teaching Excellence Award at King's College London in 2015. He is also a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians. This title comes in recognition of his contribution to the advancement of diabetes and nephrology education. He has contributed to numerous publications over the years on a variety of topics including kidney disease and diabetes. His work has appeared in renowned publications such as The Lancet and the British Medical Journal, among others. He has also presented at key international conferences such as the Annual American Society of Nephrology meeting to actively participate in knowledge sharing with his peers.

Currently, Dr. Alhayayi serves as the medical lead of Murishid Health Center under Emirates Health Services (EHS) in Fujairah.
